French Riviera
I went by train from Paris to Nice. Most of the trip was at over 100 mph but when we got to the Riviera we slowed to about 50-60 mph because of the turns in the tracks.I arrived in Nice (pronounced Neese) at about 10:30 at night and I didn't know for sure whether I had a room or not since I booked online. I also was a little apprehensive about going to Nice as people in Paris couldn't/wouldn't speak English. I asked for directions (in French) from a local and he started explaining to me in French where my hotel was. He could tell I was having a hard time understanding his directions so he stopped and asked "do you speak English?". It was funny because his English was great and we were speaking in French. Anyway, the weather was amazing. This is a very tropical area. At midnight it was about 75 degrees.
