Ciovo is an island in the Adriatic Sea connected by drawbridge to Trogir, another island which is then connected to the mainland by bridge. Ciovo doesn't have the ancient history that Trogir has but does have a church built in the 1200's. That's still fairly old.
Ciovo has several villages on it mostly on the north (Trogir side) of the island. Okrug is on the west and has the best beaches and sunsets. Okrug is split into the upper village (Okrug Gornji) and lower village (Okrug Donji). Year round population of Ciovo is about 3500 and summertime population is probably 15,000. There are no hotels as everyone rents apartments.
Okrug Gornji has 5 small grocery stores and one medium one, seven full restaurants, two churches, about 10 bars on the beach and four bakeries - that's it. We never ate in any of the restaurants as they were very touristy.
Our apartment was 50 meters from the sea so we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner outside. Every morning I'd make the trek via the old road over the hill to Trogir which was more of a pedestrian path than anything. I have fond memories of making that journey.
I really like this place.
