Ten years ago I made a trip to Ecuador and Peru. This trip is largely a retracing of those footsteps a decade later. This time we did not go to Guayaquil due to an unfavorable experience the last time. We also did not stay at the Liana Lodge in the Amazon as it is now cost-prohibitive, we did visit it though. The woman who ran the guest-house died in a car accident about 2 years after we stayed. I don’t know if the drastic price increase is a result or just coincidence. Both Peru and Ecuador are considerably more expensive than they were 10 years ago but also much easier to travel in. For my first trip we drove on dirt and mud roads over the Andes but now it's a nice paved two lane highway. Also both countries are cleaner than they used to be.
I will write more in the trip journal when I get to it.
Quick layover in San Salvador.
